The Lower Kuskokwim School District (www.lksd.org) is gearing up for another recruiting  season and will be in need of educators for the 2016-2017 school year.

The school district is in western Alaska, approximately 400 air miles from Anchorage.  The district covers an area equivalent in size to the State of Ohio and is comprised of 22 Eskimo villages all accessible only by aircraft, with each village having its own K-12 school.  The community of Bethel, where the district office is located, has five different schools with a community population of 6,500 people (making it the largest community in western Alaska).

Though it is too early to tell what specific openings we will have, previous vacancy history indicates that we normally hire between 10-15 EL ED teachers, 2-3 Secondary Language Arts, 2-3 Secondary Math, 2-3 Secondary Science, 2-3 Principals, 5-6 SPED teachers, and 2-3 Counselors.   We are estimating that there will be 30-35 positions needing to be filled this year.
