Jonathan Hamilton

Admissions Counselor, Minnesota

Hometown:

Fairbanks, Alaska

Professional/Personal Biography:

My career started at the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce where I greatly enjoyed leading the public and governmental relations efforts. That quickly led to my dream job leading the corporate sales and marketing efforts at Michigan Tech Athletics. During those years at MTU, I also got heavily involved in pastoral college ministry at my local church in Dollar Bay, MI, which eventually led me to pursue a graduate seminary degree in Minneapolis. As I approached graduation, I heard about this admissions role opening up at NMU and jumped at the chance to get back into higher ed at a quality institution in a beautiful setting!

Most Memorable College Experience:

Breaking my jaw during my first month on campus and having it wired shut for 40 days.

Favorite Marquette Activity:

Exploring the awesome food scene and enjoying Lake Superior!

Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone else entering college:

When talking to colleges, ask them what they do to help students get into internships, grad school, and future career opportunities.
