The NMU Parking Services Office is responsible for overseeing the vehicle registration program and dealing with parking issues as they arise.
Parking Services, a unit of the NMU Police Department, is located in the Services Building on Sugarloaf Avenue (see campus parking map). It is open during the universities regular business hours, which during the academic year are 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. (EST). Some of the most frequent questions the Parking Services receives each year:
Can freshmen bring cars?-Yes, freshman can have cars on campus. They must register their vehicle and purchase a parking permit to park on campus.
Is there a fee to park on campus if I’m a student (a freshman), a faculty member, a staff member?-Yes, there are fees associated with parking permits.
Are there designated lots for parking?-Yes, all of the lots on campus are designated.
Do visitors have to register their cars when on campus for more than a few hours?-Visitors are encouraged to register their vehicles through the Parking Portal by clicking on the Online vehicle registration link below. Visitors will be required to create a guest account to obtain permits through the Portal.
Is there storage somewhere on campus for my bike during the winter?-The Housing Office should have information on bicycle storage.
