Production Manager

Purpose
To coordinate, liaise and maintain all production resources in an efficient, effective manner within budgetary parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Work as facilitator between director and designer for production components
  • Negotiate production staffing with advice from designers and the artistic director
  • Help designers with organization and pricing
  • Work as facilitator between designers and director with close communication with the stage manager
  • Supervise budgets and production staff time sheets in cooperation with designers, production staff and the artistic director and office manager
  • Collect all theater drawings and working instrument lists
  • Attend all design meetings
  • Act as chairperson for production meetings

House Manager

Responsibilities

  • To efficiently manage the front of house areas for all theater productions and events
  • To organize and supervise the arrangements of proper staff, equipment, space and supplies to meet the theater's needs for all front of house functions
  • To liaise with all departments concerning use of front of house areas duties
  • To select, train and supervise a volunteer staff of ushers, to staff the front of house areas as required for all performances and theater functions
  • To have a thorough knowledge of fire regulations, safety regulations and evacuation plans
  • To make all staff aware of these regulations and to operate all front of house functions abiding by these regulations
  • To ensure the safety of all theater patrons while inside the building or on theater grounds
  • Before each function, all washrooms, auditoriums and front of house areas must be checked to ensure their suitability for the public
  • To supervise the handling of all patron problems and to personally deal with any particularly delicate situation
  • To ensure that the house is returned to the stage manager as close to prescribed performance times as possible
  • To regulate the entry of latecomers and control disruptive patrons
  • To ensure the return of all patrons after intermission

Technical Director

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of production budgets
  • Manage production budgets in all matters pertaining to set construction, lighting, props and technical personnel
  • Prepare, oversee and coordinate the technical schedule in cooperation with the artistic director and stage management
  • Supervise the scenic carpenter, props builder/buyer and any technical assistants
  • Liaise with designers and directors in consultation with the artistic director and general manager
  • Coordinate efficient production maintenance program
  • Prepare weekly schedules
  • Coordination of all technical components of the season
  • Coordinate construction schedules and updates
