Spring Sign-Up For Family Tenants

As a student-family tenant, what you have to do during Spring Sign-Up for the apartments depends on what your plans are for the summer and for next fall.

Checking out at the end of the winter semester.

If you are planning to leave at the end of the semester, you must provide Housing and Residence Life with 30 days notice.  You can do so by stopping by the Housing and Residence Life Office (2101 Hedgcock) and completing the "University Family Apartment Termination of Lease" form.  To avoid being charged a termination fee, you must provide us with a minimum of 30 days notice and move out of your apartment between the end of the Winter semester exam week and 5:00 p.m. on June 30th (or later, depending on apartment availability, demand, and prior written approval from the Housing and Residence Life Office).

Staying in your apartment for the summer and at least for the fall semester.

If you are registered for at least eight (8) credit hours for the fall semester, you may remain in your apartment for the summer, regardless of whether or not you are enrolled in summer courses.

Staying in your apartment for the summer, but checking-out before the start of the fall semester.

If you are enrolled for summer courses, you have the option of staying in your apartment until the Sunday after your last class.  To avoid being charged a termination fee, you must submit a  "University Family Apartment Termination of Lease" form at least 30 days in advance of the last day you plan on being in the apartment.  You may obtain one of these forms from the Housing and Residence Life Office.  You will be charged rent for the 30 days after you have given us written notice of your intent to vacate your apartment.

Please visit the Housing and Residence Life Office (2101 Hedgcock) to fill out the forms necessary to provide your 30 day notice.

IMPORTANT!  You must be enrolled in summer courses to choose this option.

Take advantage of our Special Summer Rental Program

If you are reserving your apartment for the fall, but are planning to be gone for at least four consecutive weeks this summer, you may be eligible to participate in our special summer rental program.  This program permits you to leave your belongings in your apartment, turn in the key, and we will store your things for a greatly reduced rate of $3.57 per day, or approximately $25 per week.

This is a one time per summer program (you cannot go on summer storage, return to live in your apartment for a period of time, then go on summer storage again for the remainder of the summer).  Arrangements to participate must be made in advance a the Housing and Residence Life Office (2101 Hedgcock).
