Hours, Services, and Fees

The Archives is open for research Monday through Friday, from 8 AM-5 PM. Research is free and open to the public.

Due to a recent policy change, if you wish to see any university records you must submit a Freedom of Information Act request. To submit a FOIA request, contact Debra DeMattia at ddematti@nmu.edu or at the Finance and Administration office in 502 Cohodas. The request should be processed within five business days. This does not affect manuscript series and non-university related records.

We are located in room 126 of the LRC, near the tunnel leading to West Science.

The Archives staff is able to conduct extensive research for patrons unable to visit the archives.
Our rates begin at $30 an hour.
Additionally, for a list of private individuals available to conduct research at negotiable rates, please contact the university archivist.

To make a reference and/or research request, please complete the archives' online request form.

For more information, you may contact the university archivist or call 906-227-1046.

The Archives can only accept payment in the form of cash or check.

If a patron is out of the country, payment for services can be made via www.peertransfer.com by selecting "Northern Michigan University".
