  • Encyclopedia Britannica – Good start to understand what you’re writing about.
  • Internet Public Library – Links to over 1600 critical and biographical sites about literary authors, and a searchable list of over 1,100 associations on the web as well as 7,700 books available on the web.
  • JSTOR - Database with over a thousand academic articles, and over one million images, letters, and other primary sources.
  • NYPL Digital Gallery – over 300,000 images digitized from primary sources in the collection of New York Public Library, including historical maps, vintage posters, rare prints, and photographs.
  • Olson Library – Excellent place to look up books in the NMU Library catalog or online databases. You can also order books from other universities using MelCat.
  • Online!: A Reference Guide to Using Internet Sources -  Includes four chapters from the book.
