Lower Kuskokwim School District: Information Session

Lower Kuskokwim School District (LKSD) is an exciting and rewarding place to learn and teach in “bush” Alaska. LKSD is the largest rural school district in Alaska with 27 schools, 350 teachers and about 4100 Yup'ik students. The landmass of the District is about the size of West Virginia spreading along the Kuskokwim River and Bering coast of southwest Alaska. Travel is by jet from Anchorage, and then by small plane, snowmobile or boat from Bethel to the village sites.
LKSD supports instructional staff with a robust professional development program differentiated from whole group to individually selected courses. There is a teacher mentor program that includes orientation to the local culture and learning about our curriculum. Additional mentoring for new to LKSD teachers is provided through the individualized BetterLessons model.

City of Madison Police Department: Written Testing

The Madison Police Department is nationally recognized for its innovation and leadership. The Department is in the forefront of "trust-based" community policing, problem-solving and quality improvement. We are an organization "where individuals CAN and DO make a difference." Representatives from our department will be on campus to offer the written exam and to distribute applications. The test will take approximately two hours, and prior registration is not necessary. Any questions regarding this test should be directed to MPD (608-266-4190). Please do not contact the University with questions.
Come to the walk-in testing to complete the first part of the application process! The written exam measures reading comprehension and vocabulary skills, similar to those you have probably taken in school. AN ESSAY WILL BE GIVEN AT THE WRITTEN EXAM AND SHOULD BE REVIEWED PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. These tests are not intended to assess your knowledge of specific skill sets or procedures unique to policing.
