NMU Payroll Goes Electronic

NMU payroll is now 100% electronic with two convenient options, direct deposit to your bank account or a Visa pay card. Michigan law allows employees the right to change the method of receiving wages at anytime from direct deposit to the pay card or vice versa. All employees currently receiving paper checks must choose either direct deposit or the pay card no later than Friday, March 30. Employees who do not have direct deposit or are interested in switching to the pay card can learn more about the process here.

News and Information

	Summer Hours On May 14, 2012, the University will be going to summer hours. Designated University hours are 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday with the University being closed on Friday's. Summer hours will extend through August 17, 2012. Each department can determine their own flexible scheduling arrangements to provide this coverage. Please contact Human Resources at 227-2330 for assistance with flexible scheduling options, to include working from home. The Guidelines for Establishing Work Schedules will also assist you on how to establish summer flex hours correctly.
	Take Care VISA Cards If you are a current participant in a flexible spending account for either health care and/or dependent care; or if you are eligible for the health reimbursement account (HRA), then you would have received a VISA card. The card is already active and ready for you to use. In order to manage your account information, you will need to register.
	Personal Services Contract Guidelines Need extra help? NMU departments can supplement the current work force by hiring individuals through personal services contracts. There are several important guidelines about when and how independent contractors may be hired. Full Story

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Connection allows employees access to resources that help them stay healthy, get healthier, and manage illness. Get access to health assessments, online health coaching, a 24-hour nurse line, chronic condition and disease management skills, a program that assists in quitting smoking and more. 2012 NMU Essential Personnel
University Essential Personnel Positions have been determined by supervisors and based on this status those employees are required to report to work during times in which the University deems it necessary to close for inclement weather or any other reason.
