Frederick "Fritz" Nelson '73

Fritz is a professor of geography at the University of Delaware. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses. Prior to teaching at the University of Delaware, Fritz taught at the University of Michigan, Cornell and Rutgers. He earned his BS from NMU in 1973 and went on to earn his Masters from Michigan State and his Ph. D. from the University of Michigan. Fritz is a member of the American Geographical Society, Association of American Geographers and the Arctic Institute of North America. In 2007, he was awarded the NMU Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award. He was among the contributors to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Fritz is a lifetime member of the NMU Alumni Association.
