NMU Language Dept Placement Test

Not sure how much French, German, or Spanish you have retained from high school? Here is a painless way to get a rough placement for a class in any of those languages. Please note that the department placement policy requires this exam if you took the language in high school.

Follow the link below to create an account. Input your NMU IN for the "Student ID" box. Once you've created your account, sign in and choose the appropriate test.

The language placement test takes about 15-30 minutes. After you take the test, the program will give you a recommendation on what class to take (semester 1 = 101, 2 = 102, 3 = 201, 4 = 202).  It automatically sends your score to the Department of Languages, Literatures and International Studies. E-mail llis@nmu.edu if you want to confirm that your score is a good indicator of the class you should take.

Note: If you need to take the test more than once, you will need to create a new account using a different e-mail address.
