Dean of Students

The Dean of Students Office works to maintain a campus environment which is conducive to the recruitment, retention, personal development and success of students. Specifically, we advocate for student rights; promote student involvement in the university’s decision-making process; provide a program for new students to help them adjust to college living and learning; and offer services and programs which respond to the needs of diverse constituencies.

Board of Trustees Student Achievement Awards

Nominations for the Board of Trustees Student Achievement Awards can be made by any student, faculty, or staff member.  Pictured with Assistant Vice President/Dean of Students Chris Greer (center) are the 2019 recipients: Ryan Watling, outstanding student (any class standing), Michael Stamm, outstanding male graduating senior, Hailey Donohue, outstanding female graduating senior, Connor Loftus, outstanding nontraditional student, and Kevin Store, outstanding global campus student. 

Nominations were due February 13, 2020.  Students nominated received an email with the following information:

All applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member.  Application and reference letter must be turned in at the Dean of Students Office by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2020.  Applicants will be notified of their audition time. 


Conduct Concerns

Northern Michigan University students, staff, faculty and community members can report conduct concerns with the on-line Conduct Concerns Form.

If your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor’s degree, then you are considered a first generation college student.
