Jaspal Singh (English) presented “Images of Sikh 'Tortured
Bodies' and the Construction of Sikh Solidarity and Identity within the Indian
Nation-state and the Diaspora” at the Contemporary Theory Conference at the
University of the Punjab in Pakistan.
Cary Vajda (Admissions) served on a panel for a session titled “Transfer Guides: Best Practices” at the Michigan Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (MACRAO) annual conference. During the session, he shared Northern's process for transfer course evaluations, creating and maintaining transfer guides, and using them to recruit transfer students. Vajda also was recently appointed as a member of MACRAO’s College Articulation Committee, which focuses on transfer student issues.
Graduate student and teaching assistant Cameron Mahoney presented his paper,
"Cry the Beloved Contradiction: Paton‘s Colonial Legacy" at the 20th Annual
British Commonwealth and Postcolonial Studies Conference in Savannah. He also
served as chair of the panel on South African literature. Mahoney was awarded a
Future Faculty Fellowship this semester.
