Call for Proposals: NEH Summer Stipend 2014 Internal Competition

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has announced the 2014 Summer Stipends competition for projects beginning May 2014. Please visit the website below for general information, application guidelines, FAQs, and proposal samples.

Universities are only allowed to submit two nominees for this opportunity.
To select the nominees, pre-proposal applications will be reviewed by a panel at Northern Michigan University, and two will be selected for submission to NEH.
Internal Selection Process:
Applicants should prepare the following items according to the Summer Stipend Guidelines, and submit them to grants@nmu.edu by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013.
Project narrative (limited to 3 single-spaced pages)
Bibliography (limited to 1 single-spaced page)
CV (limited to 2 single-spaced pages)
Appendix (ONLY REQUIRED for editions, translations, database projects, or for proposals that include visual materials)
Name, e-mail address, and affiliation for two reference letter writers (letters are not due, only the contact information for those who will be a reference)
If selected by the campus panel, the applicant will submit the final proposal using Grants.gov by the September 26, 2013 deadline and provide reference letters online by the October deadline (to be established by NEH).

NMU nets $378K in external funding Dec. 2012-March 2013
Faculty and staff at Northern Michigan University received a total of $378,875 in external funds during the quarter December 2012 to March 2013. Awards range in size from $2,000 to $120,000, with every dollar benefiting programs that support students, faculty and other stakeholders at NMU.
Projects range from law enforcement training to support for a traveling original theater performance to a study of avian botulism, and much more. A complete list of awards and program directors is available: NMU Dec-Mar Awards.
