Buck Nystrom Endowed Scholarship

This award was established in 2013 in honor of Buck Nystrom, legendary Northern Michigan University football coach. The scholarship will recognize the positive impact Coach Nystrom's nearly 40 year college career has had on the lives of hundreds of NMU football players and coaches, as well as Wildcat fans and the local community. The scholarship will provide financial support to qualifying students, upper classman, on roster with the NMU Interollegiate Varsity Football Team.

2017 2018 - One award ?amount grows with fund. The amount of award will vary based on the NMU Foundation Spending Policy.

Student Athlete chosen will demonstrate, practice, and execute the highest degree of the five qualities of the 4th Quarter Edge- 1. Discipline, 2. Commitment, 3. Effort, 4. Enthusiasm, 5. Pride. These qualities expressed consistently in practice, off-season or particularly on game day as the players/team enters the 4th Quarter raise their Arm Tall as their `hand? expresses four fingers up with the thumb tucked to symbolize the qualities of the 4th Quarter Winning Edge. These qualities and the 4th Quarter Program promoting the Winning Edge was instituted in 1975 by Coach Buck and practiced by many fine NMU Football teams through the years.
