Chris Coughlin Presentation

Mr. Chris Coughlin of Cooper Power Systems was on campus February 15 to speak to NMU Engineering Technology students about his first few years in industry as a recent engineering graduate.  Mr. Coughlin also spoke about his passion for motorsports and emphasized to the students the importance of pursuing their interests, both in their careers and in their pastimes.  Chris’ racing website is​

The Department of Engineering Technology was recently awarded a grant to publicize its innovative minor in Alternative Energy.  The grant was awarded through the Michigan Renewable Schools program administered by Energy Works Michigan.

Moving up in International Competition​

The Northern Michigan University Baja Team placed 22nd in endurance and 34th overall which was an all-time best at the four-hour endurance race in New York on Saturday, June 8. In Michigan the team placed second only to the University of Michigan. The NMU team beat the University of Michigan at the Michigan Tech Winter Baja placing first over 22 other universities.
