Zoology student receives Fulbright

Kirstin Meyer is a zoology graduate and a U.S. Student Fulbright recipient due to her research on fresh water crabs that she did with her faculty mentor, Dr. Neil Cumberlidge. She will be spending next year studying deep-sea ecology in Bremerhaven, Germany. She was also named outstanding graduating senior by the biology department and graduated in May with full honors.

Ewasek Earns Woodrow Wilson Fellowship

Andrea Ewasek has been selected for the inaugural class of W.K. Kellogg Foundation's Woodrow Wilson Michigan Teaching Fellowship recipients. She will complete an intensive master's education program at Wayne State University. Read more.

New major in biology
Interested in the environment? The biology department is offering a Fisheries and Wildlife Management major which started this fall. Students can specialize in fisheries or wildlife and will have all coursework necessary to meet the professional entry certification standards of the American Fisheries Society or The Wildlife Society.

In this video, Justine talks about her experiences applying for a PhD schools and her experiences in the biology department that got her accepted into every PhD program she applied to.
Welcome new professor

We are very pleased to welcome our new parasitologist, Dr. Kurt Galbreath, to the department.  Dr. Galbreath specializes in the evolution of host parasite assemblages in small northern mammals - think pikas! Read more here... He will be teaching Parasitology, Comparative Anatomy, and a variety of other courses in the department.  Please say hello to him if you see him in the halls.
