|Dr. Paul Lang
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
Paul Lang was appointed provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Northern Michigan University on July 6, 2012. As the chief academic officer for the university, Dr. Lang works closely with the president, the vice president of finance and administration and other members of the NMU leadership team. He is responsible for providing and promoting leadership and vision for academic programs, student services and outreach activities that facilitate student, faculty and staff success and that contribute to the overall mission and goals of the university. Prior to his appointment as provost, Dr. Lang served ss interim provost, dean and associate dean of the NMU College of Professional Studies, interim head and director of the School of Technology and Applied Sciences, and head and professor of the department of Criminal Justice.
|Dr. Dale Kapla
Assistant Provost for Undergraduate Programming and Faculty Affairs
Dr. Dale Kapla accepted the appointment of assistant provost for undergraduate programming and faculty affairs in September 2012. He provides leadership in undergraduate administrative needs, faculty affairs, and contract maintenance.
He has served the university as a department head for the past five years, most recently as head of the Political Science and Criminal Justice departments. Prior to his employment at NMU, Dr. Kapla held law enforcement positions with the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department and Marquette Police Department.
Dr. Kapla holds a Ph.D. in political science (public policy) from West Virginia University and a master’s degree in public administration and bachelor of science degree in criminal justice and security administration from Northern Michigan University.
