Seaborg Mathematics and Science Center

The Glenn T. Seaborg Center is dedicated to enriching the knowledge and understanding of science and mathematics in the general public, particularly students and educators from preschool through college, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Michigan Mathematics and Science Center

The Center is one of 33 regional centers in the Michigan Mathematics and Science Centers network. These centers provide leadership, curriculum support, and professional development and student services to educators in their local school districts.

Dr. Glenn T. Seaborg

The Seaborg Center is named after Nobel Laureate Dr. Glenn T. Seaborg, a native of Ishpeming in Marquette County. Learn more about Dr. Seaborg’s career and his impact on the science community.

The center also provides <a href= “http://www.nmu.edu/seaborg/node/19”>professional development</a> for K-12 educators in Marquette and Alger counties, in addition to serving as a regional hub for many Upper Peninsula professional development activities.  All donations to the Seaborg Center are used to support <a href= “http://www.nmu.edu/seaborg/node/23”>student programs</a>, such as the U.P. Student Programs

The Seaborg Center hosts many student-focused program during the year such as the U.P. Science Olympiad Regional Tournament, summer fall and winter college for kids, a yearly environmental science camp and more.
