Beverly Matherne(English) was one of 12 poets invited to participate in Walking with Dylan Thomas, a tour in Greenwich Village focusing on places where world-renowned poet Dylan Thomas took the poetry world by storm. Each invited poet wrote a poem in honor of Thomas, Beverly’s was a new villanelle, “At the Boathouse.” She read it at the first stop on the tour, St. Luke in the Fields, where Thomas’s memorial service took place before his body was taken back to Wales. Other stops included the home of E.E. Cummings and the White Horse Tavern. The tour was written for the International Wales Center in New York by Welsh poets Aeronwy Thomas and Peter Thabit Jones.
