Presentations

Tim Compton (Modern Languages and Literatures) recently attended and delivered a paper at the VII Conference/Festival Latin American Theatre Today in Blacksburg, Va. His paper was titled “El arte teatral de Alberto Lomnitz” and focused on the work of Mexican playwright and director Alberto Lomnitz. The paper concentrated primarily on Lomnitz’ pioneering work as founder and director of Mexico’s highly creative and successful deaf theatre company.

Bill Laffey (Admissions) and Tony Bertucci (AdIT) gave two presentations at the 2008 SunGard Higher Education Banner Summit in Anaheim, Calif. The presentations were titled "Recalculating High School GPAs" and "Beginner's Guide to SQL Triggers for Admissions."

Kathleen Thompson (Nursing) presented "Superior Edge:  A Successful Action Project" at the meetings of the Higher Learning Commission, held April 11-15 in Chicago. Cynthia Prosen (Academic Affairs) was a co-author of the paper.

Darlene Walch (AIS) gave a presentation at the Michigan Library Association's "Library Director’s Summit II: Planning for Our Future", held March 7 at Traverse Area District Library. The title of Walch's presentation was “Professional Development, Promotion and Tenure: Academic Libraries and MLA.”
