Board Approves Faculty Promotions/Tenure, Emeriti
The NMU Board of Trustees today approved promotions and tenure for faculty members and granted emeritus status to retiring employees.
Faculty promoted to full professor are: Dwight Brady (CAPS), John Bruggink (Biology), David Buhl (Mathematics and Computer Science), Jozef Marek Haltof and Austin Hummell (English), Lesley Putman (Chemistry); Laura Reissner (Education); and Renxin Yang (Sociology and Social Work).
Faculty promoted to associate professor are: David Boe*, Stephen Burn*, Sandra Burr*, Russell Prather* and Kia Richmond* (English) ; David Helton* (Business); Alec Lindsay*, Osvaldo Lopez and Frankie Ann McCormick* (Chemistry); Carol Strauss Sotiropoulos* (Modern Languages and Literature); Gary Ebrecht* (Health, Physical Education and Recreation); Michelle Johnson (Practical Nursing); and Mitchell Klett and Judith Puncochar* (Education). Those marked with an asterisk (*) also received tenure.
Those granted emeritus status are: M. Cameron Howes, dean of the College of Professional Studies and professor of health, physical education and recreation; Alfred Joyal, provost and vice president for academic affairs and professor; William Rigby, professor of engineering technology; Matthew Riipi, internal auditor; Michael Roy, vice president for finance and administration and treasurer of the board; Andrew Wasilewski, associate vice president for auxiliary services; and Sharon Zablocki, manager-payables/cash management.
