David Cooper (Philosophy)
and James Greene (Philosophy) attended the 22nd
Meeting for the International Conference on Philosophy of Law on
Justice and Globalization in Granda, Spain. Cooper presented a paper
titled "Can Tribal Humanity Accomodate Diversity?" at
the conference. In another presentation, Cooper gave the opening
address at the 5th International Conference on Pesso Boyden System
Psychomotor therapy in Minneapolis, Minn. His presentation was based
on the CD he developed titled "Sharing the Practical Wisdom:
A Dictionary of PBSP Insights and Concepts with Philosophical Commentary."

students from the Health, Physical Education and Recreation department
gave group and individual presentations at the International Society
of Biomechanics in Sport conference, held Aug. 22-27 in Beijing,
China. John Lawrence presented his master’s thesis, “Quantification
of Drop Jumps for Training Implications." He also was a co-author,
along with students David Moss and Jacob Wagonsomer, on a paper
presented by Randall Jensen (HPER) titled “Vertical
Hand Force and Forearm EMG During a High-Step, Rock-On Climbing
Move With and Without Added Mass. ” Student Robert Bowen presented
the beginnings of his master’s thesis, “Effects of Dorsiflexion
on Energy Expenditure During Cross Country Skiing Using the V1 Skate
Technique.” Jensen was also co-author on Lawrence’s and Bowen’s
papers. Phil Watts (HPER) was co-author on all
three. Student Brock Jensen also attended the conference.
