Achievements
Don
Faust (Mathematics and Computer Science)
was selected to serve as the visiting faculty member for the Midwest
Consortium for Study Abroad (MSCA) program in Vienna, Austria, for
the winter 2006 semester. Chet DeFonso (History)
was selected as the alternate candidate for the fall 2005 or winter
2006 semester in Vienna. MCSA is one of three study abroad consortia
in which NMU participates. It is composed of 10 member
schools in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
According to the International Affairs
Office, MCSA programs are experiential, offering travel and field
excursions as part of the regular study abroad curriculum. An American
faculty member is present at each site and courses are taught in
English, with the exception of the host country language course.
Some programs include a host family stay. Programs are offered by
contract with AHA International, with sites in Vienna; Segovia,
Spain; Macerata, Italy; and Queretaro, Mexico.
