Is coming to the gym and doing the same old work out boring you? Maybe this year you should try something new to fulfill your New Year's resolution. The ORC will be offering cross country skiing fitness classes. We will be going out twice a week from the PEIF to different trails. If you don't have any experience, don't let that stop you. We will have instructors that will be able to teach you the mechanics of the sport. The ski rental is included so just come excited, and dressed for winter weather.
11 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Groove on the wall during Nighttime Madness at the ORC. The wall will be open after climbing and bouldering hours for climbers with belay certification to utilize. Along with a night climbing feel, DJ Thaddeus Bloc will be playing music while you climb. Come enjoy a new type of climbing experience!
9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The ORC will be partnering with the local business Switchback to put on a backcountry skiing trip. We will be driving out to the Hairpin Curve for some pristine winter skiing. Once we reach the Hairpin Curve we will set up some stoves and have a winter picnic. If you have ever wanted to try skiing in the backcountry this is your chance!
11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
If you have never seen the Eben Ice Caves here is your chance. The ORC will be taking a group out to Eben, MI, this winter to enjoy beautiful winter scenery and experience the caves in person. We will explore the caves then continue our hike along the top sandstone cliffs. We will supply snowshoes for participants to use during the hike and transportation form the PEIF to the ice caves.
10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Learn the basics of fly fishing with the help of Nick and the gang at Switchback. They will provide information, insight and knowledge so you can learn how to choose flies, cast, and where to fish during the winter months.
9 a.m - 5 p.m.
Looking for the ultimate adventure this winter? How about ice climbing? The Lake Superior coastline is known around the world for its ice walls and pristine backdrops. Join the ORC and Bill Thompson from Down Wind Sports for this year's Ice Climb 101. We will be meeting at the ORC and then continuing our adventure to Munising to Challenge ourselves on the ice.
Times: 1 - 7:30 p.m.
Challenge yourself in the annual Superior Climbing Competition. We hope to make this year's climbing competition our biggest yet. We will be holding a youth and adult series with the adult including beginner, intermediate, and advanced divisions. There will be prizes and tons of fun. Bring your game face, and get ready to rock!
