Faculty Spotlights

Danielle Khoury graduated Suma Cum Laude in French, Spanish, and Secondary Education from Northern Michigan University. After spending her junior year at the Universite de Pau, France and winter semester of her senior year at UNAM  University in Mexico City, she decided that there was so still much to learn and she moved abroad.  Danielle earned her TESOL certification (Teaching English as a Second or Other Language) in Paris, France and taught in Peru, Italy, France, Scotland, and Indonesia.

When she moved back to her hometown of Iron Mountain, Michigan, she founded the International Language School to offer private lessons, group conversation classes, tutoring and translations in French, Spanish and ESL. She studied Italian at LinguaSi in Orvieto, Italy and added it to her school’s offerings.  She was an adjunct instructor for two years at Bay West Community College in Iron Mountain before returning to NMU to pursue her master’s degree in English, specifically in pedagogy and writing.

Currently Danielle is teaching Spanish101 and English 211B Narrative and Description. In addition to teaching, she spends her time cycling, swimming, skiing (both water and snow) and traveling every chance she gets! Danielle has a daughter, Layla, and twin sons William and Anthony.
