About Us

reception areaThe Ada B. Vielmetti Health Center is NMU’s medical facility, providing care to students and staff as well as their spouses and older children. Services include an on-site pharmacy.

The center offers a wide variety of services, similar to those offered by a family doctor—from treatment for acne, colds or sprained ankles to annual physical and gynecological exams to HIV/AIDS testing, allergy shots or diabetes care. Referrals to specialists are also available.

The center is staffed by board-certified physicians in family practice.

Appointments are recommended, but walk-in patients will also be evaluated as to the urgency of care needed and treated or scheduled accordingly. No appointments are necessary for immunization and allergen shots. If a situation is life threatening, call the campus emergency telephone number 911, or go directly to the Marquette General Hospital Emergency Department.

Appointments may be made in person or phoned in. Patients eligible for Health Center services should bring their student or employee I.D. card to appointments or services. Reasonable and varying fees are charged for services, immunizations and prescription and over-the-counter medications. Fees may be covered or reimbursed by various health insurance carriers.
