Laboratory

The Health Center operates a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) licensed and Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA) accredited laboratory.

We provide rapid diagnostic tests for Health Center patients. Non-urgent tests are sent to accredited reference laboratories.

Since we are not a reference lab, there are criteria for doing lab tests not ordered by Health Center physicians. The Health Center can only do labs when ordered by a licensed health care provider for the following:

• Students with orders from a physician located in or out of the Marquette area.
• Students and Staff that were seen at the Health Center and referred to another physician who is now ordering lab tests. The physician at the Health Center remains the primary care provider.
• Students and staff who have labs ordered by a physician at the emergency room or Superior Walk-In Clinic when the Health Center physician will be providing the follow-up care for the illness.

The Health Center CANNOT do labs on staff who are not Health Center patients and see another primary care provider.
