Allison is a junior here at Northern Michigan University pursuing her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She grew up in a small town of Evansville, Wisconsin and graduated from Evansville High School in 2011. This will be Allison’s first year as a TA for the UN100 English block. She is an active member in Superior Edge and Intramural Sports on campus. She is also looking to get involved in the Student Teaching Assistant Organization and the Student Nurses Association this semester. When Allison is not studying, she enjoys going to the beach, hiking, camping, and listening to music with a cup of coffee in hand. Allison is very excited to get started as a TA, and cannot wait to help incoming freshmen get the best experience possible. |

Anicia Gillis Anica will graduate from NMU in December 2013 with a degree in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. She is currently applying to graduate schools to pursue a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Anica is from Chassell, MI and graduated from Houghton High School in 2010. She is a graduate of the Student Leader Fellowship Program, the treasurer for NSSLHA, and initiated and coordinated an After School Program at Marquette Alternative High School. Anica recently returned from studying abroad in Vienna, Austria. She loves to do any outdoor activities, but enjoys running the most. |

Chad Stephens Chad is a junior at NMU and is getting his Bachelor’s degree in History with a Minor in Military Science and Engineering Design. He is from Cairo, Egypt and he came here because his father studied at NMU as well. Some of his favorite historical periods are World War II and the Roman Empire. He is the President of the History Club and a member of the All Nations Club since 2010. In his free time he loves to go hiking, camping, snowboarding, swimming, kayaking, and eating a diverse variety of food. His hobbies are soccer and track; in high school he attended the Screaming Eagles invitational to the Olympic Stadium. |

Clarissa Bean Clarissa is a Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. After graduation, Clarissa hopes to obtain her Master’s degree from Michigan State and eventually work with underprivileged children. She volunteers her time with the homeless shelter here in Marquette, Room at the Inn. This is her first year being a Teacher’s Assistant and she is very excited! In her non-existent free time, Clarissa enjoys going to the beach, camping, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and spending time with her Toy-Poodle, Bentley. She is also a huge Aaron Rodgers fan! |

Courtney Johnson Courtney is a senior here at NMU and will graduate with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in May of 2014. She grew up in West Ishpeming and graduated from Westwood High School in 2010. She is a second year TA for the pre-nursing block classes. Courtney is an active member of the Student Nurses Association, holding a community chair with the student affairs committee. After graduation, Courtney is looking to go into critical care and hopes to extend her education after getting some experience. |

Crystal graduated from Ironwood, MI in 2011. She is a junior at Northern Michigan University working towards a Social Working major. She is a member of Superior Edge and enjoys volunteering. She also enjoys fishing, running, hiking--well, anything to do with being outside! Crystal is also a gamer and loves watching movies with friends. |

Heidi Babcock Heidi is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Entrepreneurship. She expects to graduate from NMU in December 2013. Heidi studied abroad in Vienna, Austria during summer semester in 2012. She enjoys traveling, racing, ORV’s, and spending time with her friends and family. Heidi lives in Marquette with her husband and three children. |

Jackie Paupore Jackie is a senior Graphic Design student from Iron Mountain, MI. She transferred to NMU from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities after her freshman year. Since attending NMU she has been involved in AIGA, Superior Edge, Payne Hall Government, Payne Hall Welcome Crew, Homecoming for Payne Hall (2012 Winner), Women for Women, Relay for Life Team Captain, and now the FYE TA program. In her spare time she likes to coach gymnastics/cheerleading at PEAK Gym Fit. She has been active in cheering for 8 years. Otherwise you can find her outside (unless it is snowing), at Rice Paddy, or at the Berry/Lakeview Arena watching my friends on the club hockey team play. |

Julia is a senior at NMU studying Nursing. She came to Northern in the fall of 2009 from Dearborn, MI, and has been involved in Superior Edge, SLFP, and held the position of President for the Student Nurses Association. Julia plans to work as an RN after graduating from NMU, hopefully in the area of pediatrics or emergency/trauma. In her spare time, Julia enjoys triathlon training, doing anything outdoorsy, and engaging in long talks with good people. Some of her favorite things in life include Lake Superior, Superman ice cream, and happy dogs (particularly her fur-kid, Howie). |

Kara Jacoboni Kara is a Communication Studies Major and is minoring in Spanish and International Studies. Her long term goal is to work in a university setting, planning and going on international service projects. She is involved in SLFP, Superior Edge, house government, and other random community service activities. She is spending her summer in Marquette and is very excited to enjoy all of the amazing outdoor activities. In her free time she likes to be crafty, read, and watch the Travel Channel and HGTV. Kara believes that motivation is everything: if you work hard, you will be able to accomplish anything. |

Kara currently attends Northern Michigan University as a junior and is majoring in Speech Pathology with a minor in Sociology. While attending Northern she has volunteered abroad in Belize for spring break, is actively involved in Superior Edge, and she is part of the Student Leadership Fellowship Program. In her free time Kara likes to play wallyball, listen to music, hike up Sugarloaf, have bonfires on the beach, and do anything outdoors. She is so excited to be a part of the First Year Experience Program and she hopes to make a positive impact on her students through their transition from High School to Northern Michigan University. |

Katherine Klutts Katherine is a senior and attended Michigan Technological University for two years before transferring to Northern in the Fall of 2012. She is in love with Northern and all it has to offer. She enjoys challenging herself daily by doing activities such as running, hiking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, kayaking, and any shenanigans she can get into with friends. She is an avid reader and loves to read the science fiction/fantasy genre. She loves to laugh and have a good time. There are few things she enjoys more than helping others and making someone smile. Katherine is currently serving in the Michigan National Guard as an Interior Electrician in the 1430 Engineer Company here in Marquette MI. Her career goal is to become a dentist and possibly specialize in pediatric dentistry or oral surgery. |

Liz Hendricks Liz Hendricks is a senior at Northern Michigan University and although she has decided to pursue a degree in Sociology, she has a passion for the Sciences. She has been involved with many aspects of campus life including being a note taker for Disability Services, participating in House and Hall Government, and she was previously a Resident Adviser in Spalding Hall. Liz is really excited about the opportunity to be a Teaching Assistant and her goal is to assist others in seeing all the wonderful things that Northern has to offer. In her spare time she enjoys disc golfing, theater, and driving around with her best friend in his 1971 Cutlass Supreme in the summer. |
