Born in Rapid City, South Dakota, Jon Billman has worked as a wildland firefighter and high school teacher. His work has appeared in such publications as Esquire, Outside, Mountain, Zoetrope: All-Story, ZYZZYVA, The Missouri Review, Ploughshares, and The Paris Review. He is the author of the book When We Were Wolves (Random House). He lives with his wife, Hilary, and kids, Avalyn and Samuel, in Green Garden, Michigan.
