Mitchell Klett and Judith Puncochar (Education, Leadership and Public Service) contributed an article titled “A Model for Outcomes Assessment of Undergraduate Science Knowledge and Inquiry Processes” to the winter issue of Research & Practice in Assessment. The article describes a new method of assessing student understanding of science inquiry processes without placing extra burdens on faculty or students. This issue of the journal focuses on assessment in the field of student affairs and showcases the scholarship of faculty from five major research universities.

Senior economics major Laura Leppanen’s lesson plan, “The Crow and the Pitcher,” was published on the website EconEdLink, a database of resources for economics educators. The lesson plan is based on a fable and designed to teach elementary school children the concepts of scarcity and trade in an economic setting. Leppanen also is a student assistant to Sam M. Cohodas Professor Tawni Ferrarini (Economics), who advised Leppanen on submitting material for possible posting on EconEdLink. Ferrarini described the website's publication process as "competitive," using peer-reviewed and blind procedures. Click here to see the lesson plan.
