OFFERS ONLINE CARPOOLING
spaces will soon become a precious commodity, particularly around
central campus, as students vie for available spots near their classrooms.
But the Dean of Students office provides a share-a-ride service
that could help relieve some of the traffic congestion.
lists are posted on the office Web site (dso.nmu.edu). An off-campus
list is for local students who need a ride to NMU, and for vehicle
owners willing to share their mode of transportation. A vacation
carpool list is for students in need of a ride out of town Ė whether
itís for a weekend visit home, a spring break road trip, or some
a service we put together to help students," said Susan
Verduin (Dean of Students). ďThe off-campus list has been
really helpful, particularly in the winter. Both lists have been
successful, and students really seem to appreciate the fact they
are available and accessible from anywhere."
similar service has been offered for several years on note boards
in the University Center . While this is still used, Verduin said
the online listings have been more effective.
