NMU President, David Haynes, kicks-off this series with a featured event about his journey to becoming NMU's 14th president. Haynes, a 1972 graduate, is the first NMU alumnus to serve as the university's president. This is a personal opportunity to meet your NMU president and learn about his experiences as a former student and how NMU prepared him for a successful career.

Get his advice on how to pursue similar careers in politics, civic service, higher education administration and teaching. Haynes has served as an adviser to five NMU presidents, has been an associate professor of political science and public administration and directed NMU's Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree program.

A reception will follow and attendees will have the opportunity to meet Haynes and learn more about their university.

The How I Became ______ with my NMU Degree is a series sponsored by Wildcats for Life, a student group which engages students and alumni with prominent graduates of NMU to foster networking, career mentoring and school pride.
