To be considered for most financial aid available through NMU, students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in one of the following two ways:
- By Internet, for faster, more accurate results. To have your FAFSA processed on the Web, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov. For best results, use a Department of Education PIN to electronically sign the FAFSA. PINs can be obtained through www.pin.ed.gov.
- By mail. A paper version can be requested by calling 1-800-433-3243 or a PDF of the FAFSA can be printed from http://www.federalstudentaid.ed.gov.
The priority date for maximum financial aid consideration is March 1.
Federal financial aid programs may include scholarships, grants, Federal Pell Grants, Academic Competitiveness Grant, National SMART Grant, Federal Perkins Loan program, William D. Ford Federal Direct Student Loan program, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, or part-time employment.
