The National Endowment for the Arts recently announced that NMU will receive $37,000 in NEA funding for two projects: $25,000 for the DeVos Art Museum's upcoming exhibition and related programming on Marquette native and influential architect John Lautner; and $12,000 to support the U.P. Folklife Festival presented by the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center.

NMU Dining Services won gold for "Catering-Online Menu" in the medium school division in the 2011 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards. The competition is sponsored by the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS). NMU will compete against the gold award winners in the small- and large-school categories (Hendrix and the University of Kansas, respectively) for the grand prize at the association's annual conference in July in Dallas.
