A review of Beverly Matherne's (English) latest bilingual book, a collection of linked prose poems about the early life of Lamothe-Cadillac, French explorer and founder of Detroit, appears in the current issue of METAMPORPHOSES (Vol. 18, pp. 234-36). The review was written by a French scholar from the University of Virginia and opens with a sentence that addresses the book's "strength and originality." METAMORPHOSES is published by the Five Colleges Inc., a non-profit educational consortium representing Amherst, Mount Holyoke, Smith and Hampshire Colleges, along with the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
