Lambda Chi Renovation on Planet Green TV
A recent kitchen renovation at the Lambda Chi Alpha house on Fourth Street will be featured on Planet Green, a new television network under the Discovery umbrella that focuses on sustainable living and energy conservation.
The segment is included in a program titled “Total Wrecklamation: Every Little Bit Counts,” which is scheduled to air at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, on Charter channel 105.
A television crew interviewed fraternity members in Chicago over the summer. The NMU students had traveled to the Windy City to retrieve cabinets and countertops being removed from a residence owned by a relative of a Lambda Chi member.
“The producers also wanted digital photos of the work we did this summer installing them in our house, so they set up a time-lapse camera,” said Patrick Higgins, pictured. “When you see it on TV, people will be zipping around removing the old and putting in the new.
“Our kitchen was really old. It had like 50 years worth of use and wet dishes on the counter. It’s really nice to have recycled cabinets and a marble countertop that look brand new. We’re working pretty hard to keep it clean.”
