Board Approves Emeriti, Faculty Promotions/Tenure

At its May 5 meeting, the NMU Board of Trustees granted emeritus status to retiring employees, and approved promotions and tenure for faculty members.

Professor of Education emeriti include Dennis Badaczewski, Lois Hirst, Lorana Jinkerson and Earl Kaurala. Others who will earn the emeritus distinction upon their retirement, or by June 1, are: James Inch, energy management supervisor of plant operations; Lt. Col. John Vickers, department head of military science; and Connie Williams, administrative assistant in the office of the president.

 

The following faculty promotions, which will be effective Aug. 23, were approved:

 

Assistant professor-TAS: Michael Andary (Technology and Occupational Sciences).

 

Associate professor: Robert Quinn (Economics), James McCommons (English), Jaspal Singh (English), and Robert Whalen (English).

 

Professor: Robert Winn (Biology), Thomas Getman (Chemistry), Suzanne Williams (Chemistry), Larry Pagel (Business), Cheryl Teeters (HPER), and Teresa Delpier (Nursing).

 

The following faculty members will be granted tenure, effective Aug. 23: Robert Quinn (Economics), James McCommons (English), Jaspal Singh (English), Robert Whalen (English), Robert Goodrich (History), Alan Willis (History) and Kristi Robinia (Practical Nursing).
