Distinguished Faculty Award Nominations Due Feb. 24

Nominations for the Distinguished Faculty Award should be submitted to Academic Affairs by Friday, Feb. 24. This award recognizes up to three full-time faculty members, including academic department heads, who have made significant contributions to NMU and their professional areas. Faculty who have previously received this award are eligible for consideration based upon their post-award record of achievement.

The screening committee is comprised of the academic deans and the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. The committee will base its decisions on the faculty members' records of significant contributions to the university and to their professional discipline in all three of the following areas: teaching or assigned responsibilities; research, scholarship, creative or other appropriate professional activities; and university or professionally-related community service.

Winners will be announced in March and recognized at the spring commencement ceremony. Each winner will receive $1,000. Nominations may be submitted by any university colleague, student, or member of the community.

The complete nomination package should include a copy of the nominee’s current curriculum vitae, a narrative describing the nominee’s achievements, and letters supporting the nomination. For nomination forms and further information, visit Distinguished Faculty Awards or contact Theresa Nease (Academic Affairs) at ext. 2920.
