Directed by Howard Ashman with Musical Staging by Edie Cowen

A gleefully gruesome musical spoof of the 1960 Roger Corman film, this monster musical is about a hapless florist shop worker, Seymour, who offers his tender love and care to a plant that feeds on human blood. This plant, Audrey II, named after Seymour’s secret love, quickly becomes a fascinating attraction in the neighborhood called Skid Row.

About the Show:

Little Shop of Horrors has a book and lyrics written by Howard Ashman with music by multiple award-winner Alan Menken. The musical is based on the 1960 low-budget film, The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman. The musical originally appeared in 1982 Off-Off-Broadway before moving Off-Broadway where it had a 5 year run at the Orpheum Theatre. In 1986, the musical was adapted into a feature film starring Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene, and Steve Martin with direction by Frank Oz. Little Shop of Horrors has gone on to have countless productions including a stint on Broadway from 2003-2004.

He is grateful for the opportunity to perform with such a talented cast in an amazing show.

Taylor Kulju headshotTaylor Kulju (Audrey) is a senior theater performance major at NMU with a communication studies minor. However some of her other roles consist of Mona in Chicago at the Forest Roberts Theatre, Maria in West Side Story at the Vista Theatre,  Brooke Wyndham in Legally Blonde at the Forest Roberts Theatre, and Lucy the Slut in Avenue Q at the Panowski Black Box Theatre. Taylor is beyond excited to complete her final year at NMU with this amazing cast and crew! She dedicates this show to her boyfriend who helps her run lines so often, he could be her understudy.

She would like to thank Paul, Dorsey, Alex, the plant crew, the crew, and the cast of Little Shop. She would also like to thank her family, her friends, and everyone else who has supported her over the years. Enjoy Little Shop of Horrors, and feed the plant!

He is also an active member of Alpha Psi Omega.
