Mallory_Asano-1_tlarge.jpgMallory Asano (Pilar, Female Dance Captain) is a senior at Marquette Senior High School.  She has attended The Pulse on Tour, NUVO, Dance Olympus, and The Rock School West. She has appeared in several local PSA’s and commercials, and was in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Forest Roberts Theatre). Mallory was the assistant choreographer for The Little Mermaid Jr. (Lake Superior Youth Theatre). She is currently a teacher at Marquette Center for Dance and a back-up dancer for Adam Whittington.



NatalieBergerheadshot_tlarge.jpgNatalie Berger (Chutney) is a freshman digital cinema and theatre major at Northern Michigan University. This marks her eleventh show for acting, recently appearing in Grease as Jan at Ferndale High School and Bye Bye Birdie as Deborah Sue at Stagecrafters Community Theatre. Here at NMU, Natalie has been Assistant Stage Manager for Bears and video designer for Avenue Q as well as acting in the ten-minute play festival. She is excited for Legally Blonde to be her first FRT main stage musical!

Other productions include Lake Superior Youth Theater's The Little Mermaid and Northern Michigan University's Ebenezer Scrooge.

Her most recent performances include John Hancock in 1776,  Rona in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Forest Roberts Theater, 2012) and Lily in The Secret Garden (Lake Superior Theater, 2011).

Jessica_Carpenter_tlarge.jpgJessica Carpenter (Serena) has a B.S. in accounting from Northern Michigan University and has appeared in The Mikado (Forest Roberts Theatre), Closer Than Ever (Forest Roberts Theatre), Cats (Vista Theatre), The Rocky Horror Show (Vista Theatre), Kiss Me Kate (Vista Theatre), Nunsensations (Vista Theatre), Hello Dolly (Forest Roberts Theatre), Iolanthe (Forest Roberts Theatre), and Rent (Forest Roberts Theatre).  Jessica was a member of the NMU Cheerleading team and Dance Company.

Jake_Delong_tlarge.jpgJacob DeLong (UCLA Frat Boy, Male Dance Captain) is a Theatre major at Northern Michigan University. His past productions include: 1776 (Forest Roberts Theatre), Hairspray (Elkhart Civic Theatre), Nina In The Morning (Black Box Theatre), Boise, Idaho (Black Box Theatre), The Sound of Music (Sturges Young Auditorium) and many other.  Jacob is very excited to be in this production of Legally Blonde!

She is from Norrisville, Maryland and has been dancing for 17 years. Ellen has appeared in her high school shows: Grease, The Music Man, Les Miserables, and White Christmas (North Harford High); as well as community theater productions. This year, Ellen completed her first season on the Northern Michigan University Dance Team. This is her first production with The Forest Roberts Theatre.

He sings in choirs in MSHS and at NMU, as well as honors choirs downstate. He has played roles in productions such as Les Miserables, Grease, The Full Monty, and Kiss Me Kate. When Marty is not acting and singing, he enjoys crafting model ships and feeding pigeons in the local park.

Kristen_Halsey_tlarge.jpgKristen Halsey (Cashier) has a B.S. in theatre from Northern Michigan University and has appeared in Trumpet in the Land (Trumpet in the Land), How to Succeed in Business (Vista Theatre), All Shook Up (Trumpet in the Land), The Mousetrap (Forest Roberts Theatre), and many other productions. She has also choreographed for the NMU Dance Show and Vista Theatre.




Alycia_Heckathorn_tlarge.jpgAlycia Heckathorn (Vivienne Kensington) is a junior Theater major with minors in music and dance at Northern. She was last seen on the Forest Roberts stage in 1776, How I Became a Pirate and A Year with Frog and Toad. She was also seen in the Black Box as Naomi in Naomi in the Living Room. She has participated in various community theatre shows in Ironwood, MI, and made her directing debut in the 10-minute play festival last fall.



new_york_581_tlarge.jpgCherisse Johnson (Winthrop) is a social work major at Northern Michigan University. She has appeared in Aida, Hair Spray, and The Wizard of Oz in high school. This is her first play at Northern Michigan University.

Her recent roles consist of Lucy the Slut in Avenue Q, "Rizzo" in Grease at the Vista Theatre, Aisha in The Near East at the Black Box Theatre, and Margaret in Compleat Female Stage Beauty at the Forest Roberts Theatre. She is thrilled to be back and ready for a great season.

She has appeared in Macbeth, The Wiz, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Matchmaker, Dark of the Moon and designed the set for Cinderella in high school. She has performed at the FRT in 1776 as Abigail Adams, and in Fallujah as Woman. She has also played Kate Monster in Avenue Q at Northern (James A. Panowski Black Box Theatre). She would like to thank her family and friends for all of their love and support.

In high school, he appeared in A Christmas Carol and played oboe/clarinet/flute in Oklahoma! and Beauty and the Beast . At NMU, he has acted in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and played clarinet in A Year with Frog and Toad.





Erin_Morgan_tlarge.jpgErin Morgan (Delta Nu/Elle’s Mom) has been in theatre since she was five years of age. She appeared in a number of shows from Scrooge to Peter Pan. She has also done a lot of offstage work, such as lights, costumes, and even music directing.





Laura_Nagle_tlarge.jpgLaura Nagle (Enid Hoopes) has a Community Health Education degree from Northern and is currently working as the Unitarian Universalists’ new Religious Education Coordinator.  She has been in local productions of The Five Dikinis and the NMU Student/Faculty Dance performances. This is her first official musical although she sings through the streets of Marquette as if every day were a Musical.

James’ favorite roles include Mrs. T. in Avenue Q (Black Box), Thomas Betterton in Compleat Female Stage Beauty (FRT) ,Edward Rutledge in 1776 (FRT), and The Baker in Into the Woods (Herbert L. Williams Theatre). He would like to thank everyone involved with the show for the amazing experience they’ve shared together, and the department for giving him this opportunity.

She has appeared in Honk Jr., Guys and Dolls Jr., Into the Woods Jr., Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Once Upon a Mattress, The Orphan Train, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, A Home for Me, Alice in Wonderland, and Willy Wonka Jr. (Marquette Arts and Culture Center Youth Theatre); Annie Jr., The Mouse that Roared and Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr., (Lake Superior Youth Theatre); Les Miserables (Marquette Senior High School), and Peter Pan (Forest Roberts Theatre).

An active theatre geek for three years, acting has become more or less a passion for him. This will be the ninth play he has acted in. He has been involved in productions of Blood Brothers, The Wizard of Oz, and Bye Bye Birdie. His hometown is Cottage Grove, Minnesota, a small suburb of St. Paul.

She has appeared in Peter Pan, Snow Queen and The Goblin as Goblin, and the Haunted Theater. In high school she appeared in Grease, Oliver, and Annie as Lily St. Regis.

Rory_Tricker_tlarge.jpg Rory Tricker (Dewey) is making his NMU musical debut. He appeared last year in Complete Female Stage Beauty (Forest Roberts Theatre) and has appeared in smaller school and community productions such as The Teacher in This is a Test (Brooks Auditorium), Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka (Annerino Center), and Ralph in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Brooks Auditorium). Mainly an improv actor, Rory has always been at home on the stage. He is currently studying to become a history teacher/professor as well as do theatre on the side.



Jimme_tlarge.jpgJimme Vereb (Margot) is a nursing major with a minor in dance, and is playing the role of Margot for Legally Blonde. She has performed in The Nutcracker (Kaufman Auditorium), Marquette Goes Hollywood (Fundraiser for Lake Superior Youth Theater), the NMU Dance show and many others throughout her life. This will be her first production with the Forest Roberts Theater.




Jim_Vincent_tlarge.JPGJames Vincent (UCLA Frat Boy/Kyle, The UPS Guy) is graduating this spring with a major in Theatre Performance. Some of his stage credits include 1776 (Richard Henry Lee), Kuwait (Kelsey), A Chorus Line (Mike Costa), Grease (Danny Zuko), Footloose (Willard Hewitt), Pippin (Lewis, and again, just recently “Grease” as Teen Angel. Upon graduation he intends to start flying lessons, and move to Golden California. He would like to thank the family and friends who have supported him, and his dad who suggested the route of acting.

This is her first production. She is currently on the NMU Dance Team and has been dancing for 17 years performing at athletic events as well as on stage. She is also a dance teacher at Marquette Center for Dance.

She's worked as a Guest Performer at Pageants in Ohio and Michigan, appeared in local talk shows across Michigan, appeared in Supermodels Unlimited Magazine, and was Michigan's Perfect Miss 2011. Jennifer has appeared as Mrs Darling in Peter Pan (FRT), the Wicked Stepmother in Cinderella (FRT), Bird in A Year with Frog & Toad (FRT), Dionne in Hair (PAAC). Jennifer currently works for the Miss Universe Organization.

Compleat Female Stage Beauty marked his University and Forest Roberts Theatre debut. He would like to thank everyone who has encouraged him throughout the years.

Her roles include Susie Wild Bear (Bears), Caesar Rodney (1776), Tammy (Hairspray) and the Assassin (The Near East).  It has been an amazing four years building friendships that will last a lifetime here at the FRT. In high school she appeared in Cinderella as the Harold, Seussical as Maize LaBird and The Apple Tree as Eve. Here at NMU she has helped paint the scenery in Near East, 1776, and Avenue Q.




Alex_Zamora2_tlarge.jpgAlejandro Rodriguez Zamora (Padamadan) is an exchange student from Mexico. He started dancing at 5 years old, and he started his acting training 5 years ago . In Mexico he has appeared in Grease, Oliver Twist, Tom Sawyer, and many others. In the U.S he appeared in Kiss Me Kate (MSHS), The Little Mermaid Jr. (Lake Superior Youth Theater).

Coop2_tlarge.jpgCoop Bicknell (Assistant Stage Manager)  is a Freshman at NMU majoring in Digital Cinema and minoring in Theatre. He has previously appeared in the Forest Roberts Theatre productions of 1776 (Joseph Hewes) and Avenue Q (Brian).  This is Coop’s first time serving as Assistant Stage Manager and as such he would like to thank the rest of the crew for their patience while showing him around the ropes.




Andrew_tlarge.jpgAndrew Bourgoin (Music Director/Jet Blue Pilot) holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from St. Olaf College.  At St. Olaf, he was a 3 year Member/Pianist of the St. Olaf Choir, the Assistant Conductor/Pianist of the Manitou Singers, made two collaborations as Pianist/Music Director with the St. Olaf Lyric Theatre, and performed the first movement of the Gershwin Piano Concerto with the St. Olaf Orchestra.  Since graduation, Andrew has taken professional roles as Music Department Intern for First United Methodist Church (Conway, AR), Music Director for Northern Michigan University (Marquette, Michigan), and Associate Conductor for the College Light Opera Company (Falmouth, MA).



Annmarie Duggan (Guest Lighting Designer) has designed Off Broadway and extensively in regional theatres across the United States.  She has designed the lighting for more than 300 productions including over 35 productions at Seaside Music Theatre. Her work has been seen Off Broadway: Sphinx Winxs, Beackett Theatre at Theatre Row, That Other Woman’s Child, 37 Arts, Captain Louie, York Theatre, Jolson & Company, Century Center, A Winter Beauty, Mint Theatre, The Kitchen of Heaven, Mint Theatre, The Offspring of Lorraine, Phil Bosakowski Theatre.  Regionally: Cumberland County Playhouse, Orlando Rep, Capital Repertory Theatre, Skylight Opera, Alabama Shakespeare, American Girl Theatre, New York, Chicago, and LA, Northern Stage, St. Michaels Playhouse, Foothills Theatre, Chattanooga State Theatre, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Carousel Theatre, Stoneham Theatre, Wachusett Theatre Company, Florida Repertory Theatre Company, Theatre Winter Haven, American Stage Festival, Utah Musical Theatre, Lycian Center for the Arts, Theatrefest, Little Theatre On the Square, Circa 21 Playhouse, Music Theatre North, Invisible Theatre, Back Alley Theatre, Turtle Lane Playhouse, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Hampton Playhouse, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre, Forum Theatre, Weiss Center for the Performing Arts, New Jersey Center for the Performing Arts, New Victory Theatre, Manhattan School of Music, Seacoast Rep, University of California at Fresno, and Pitt Rep at the University of Pittsburgh.  Ms. Duggan has also worked as a Production Manager for the construction of two brand new theatres for American Girl Place, one in midtown Manhattan, New York, NY and one at the Grove in Hollywood, CA.In Addition she has also served at the production Manager for Northern Stage, White River Junction, VT and Music Theatre North, Potsdam, NY.  She holds a BS in psychology from Worcester State University and is a graduate of the University of Arizona’s MFA program in Lighting Design.  Ms. Duggan is also currently a consultant for Que-It in the development of computer software for the Stage and Production Manager.  She is an active member of IATSE local 829 United Scenic Artists, USITT National, and Ohio Valley Section.  Ms. Duggan teaches courses in Lighting Design, Stage Management, and Computer Aided Drafting.



Jill Grundstrom (Choreographer) has a B.S. from Northern Michigan University in Secondary Education with majors in English and French, and a M.A. in Dance Education from New York University in New York City and Genoa, Italy.  She continues to train with The PULSE, jazz dance legend Luigi in New York City and has worked, taught, and trained with American Ballet Theatre in New York City and is certified in their National Training Curriculum.  She was also the author of the dance blog for Cat Deeley’s Official Website (the host of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance) during seasons four through seven.  She is currently on staff at Marquette Center for Dance and Northern Michigan University.  Miss Grundstrom’s choreography credits include: Beauty and the Beast (MACC Youth Theatre), Kids Sing Broadway (MACC Youth Theatre), Little Women (MACC Youth Theatre), Alice in Wonderland (MACC Youth Theatre), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (NMU), Annie, Jr. (Lake Superior Youth Theatre), The Little Mermaid Jr. (Lake Superior Youth Theatre), Legally Blonde (NMU) and L.A.-based pop singer Adam Whittington.  She was the recipient of the MACC Outstanding Performing Artist of the Year Award in 2011.


Emily Kinne (Assistant Stage Manager) is a sophomore at Northern Michigan University, and is pursuing a theater major. She was also an assistant stage manager for Avenue Q in January, and has been a part of the Ten Minute Play Festival for the past two years.  She hopes to graduate in the spring of 2015 and one day work for a professional theatre company.


Jalina_tlarge.jpgJalina Olgren (Stage Manager) is a senior double major in theatre and media production & new technology and has been involved in many productions at the Forest Roberts Theatre including: Avenue Q- Production Manager, Bears- Sound Design, 1776- Sound Design, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee- Stage Manager, Compleat Female Stage Beauty- Sound Design, Peter Pan- Stage Manager, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels- Assistant Stage Manager, Of Mice and Men- Sound Design, A Flea in Her Ear- Lighting Design. She has also been a Forest Roberts Theatre Carpenter and General Technician 2008-Present.




Russell_Shelley_tlarge.jpgShelley Russell (Director) is a Professor of Theatre in the Communications and Performance Studies  Department at NMU, Russell teaches a variety of courses, including Stage Combat, Acting Shakespeare and Voice and Diction.  Russell has directed over fifty productions, including Beauty and the Beast, Romeo and Juliet, The Scarlet Pimpernel and most recently, Epic Proportions.  Russell also serves as the faculty supervisor for the theatre's costume shop, and has designed over forty productions.  From 1999 to 2002 she served as executive director for the Lake Superior Theatre in Marquette, during which time the theatre received numerous awards including the NEA Director's Challenge Award.  Dr. Russell has written numerous playscripts, many of which have been performed at the Forest Roberts Theatre and at Lake Superior Theatre.  Some of her works include: Holdin' Our Own: The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Dracula and Beacon on the Rock.  Haywire, a musical which she set in a 19th century Upper Peninsula logging camp, made its debut on the Roberts  Theatre stage in 1994, was invited to perform at the Weidner Center in Green Bay and advanced to the National Finals of the American College Theatre Festival at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.  Her 1996 "swashbuckler comedy," Jule, was recognized by the prestigious Jane Chambers Playwriting Competition.  Russell's most recent work, Links (2004), explores feminist issues through the experiences of women's professional golf.
