Linda Sirois

Director
(lsirois@nmu.edu)

I grew up all over, as I was an Air Force brat. Some places I lived: Kansas, Texas, Louisiana, Ohio, and Turkey. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Writing and a Master's in Creative Writing here at Northern. I’ve taught English classes here for six years and I've worked as the Academic Coordinator in Student Support Services for four years before becoming the Director. I love working with students to help them to identify what they want to do as a career, and that begins with the class selection and figuring out their major.

I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula and graduated from NMU in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies. I am excited to be working for Student Support Services. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with our students on a day-to-day basis and I strive to make each student's experience with our office a good one.

Jamie Laurie

Academic Coordinator
(jlaurie@nmu.edu)

I grew up in St. Clair, Michigan ("the thumb"), though a love of the Upper Peninsula was instilled in me at a young age since most of my family is from the Keweenaw. I hold three college degrees thus far: a Bachelor’s degree from NMU in Spanish & Public Relations, a Master’s degree from Marquette University in Spanish Language, Literature & Culture, and a second Master’s degree in Higher Education & Student Affairs from NMU. I have worked in Higher Ed in a variety of ways over the years, with my main roles centering on teaching Spanish, coordinating study abroad opportunities, traveling, and helping transfer and international students gain admittance into college. In Student Support Services, I focus on advising & coordinating support efforts, which is wonderful! I am an active learner in all that I do and I love helping students explore higher education as a path to personal growth and success.

Tanya Savage

Counselor
(tsavage@nmu.edu)

I grew up in the Upper Peninsula in a small town called Cooks.  I graduated from NMU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education/Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Education/School Counseling with a State of Michigan School Counseling license.  I have previously worked with housing and student athlete certifications.  As a counselor in the Student Support Services Office, I work directly with students to assist with any transitional difficulties and to help ease the college navigation experience.  In my spare time, I volunteer with my dog, Madison through Superiorland Pet Partners (make sure to visit the library during exam week!), I enjoy taking NMU automotive courses and I like to skydive.
