MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University hockey team takes its longest road trip of the season this week to Fairbanks, Alaska.  NMU will face the Nanooks of the University of Alaska in a two-game Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) series Friday and Saturday (Nov. 19-20).  Action gets underway at 11:35 p.m. (Eastern) both nights. 

Entering the weekend the Nanooks are fourth in the CCHA standings with a 4-3-1-1 conference mark and a 7-4-1 overall slate.  NMU is fifth in the standings with a 4-4-0-0 CCHA record and 4-6-1 overall.  

Over the past 10 games the Nanooks are 0-6-4 against the ‘Cats.  Last year a shootout decided three of the four regular season games between the Nanooks and ‘Cats with the home team claiming the extra point each time. 

Tyler Gron leads the ‘Cats in goals with five and points with 11 also has registered six assists.  Greger Hanson also has six assists to share the team lead.  Hanson has recorded two goals for eight points.  Reid Ellingson and Jared Coreau have both seen time between the pipes for the ‘Cats.  Ellingson is 2-4-0 with a 3.09 goal-against average and a .893 save-percentage.  Coreau is 2-2-1 with a 3.26 goal-against average and a .915 save-percentage. 

Leading the Nanooks in points is Kevin Petovello with 12 (6-6-12).  Next on the list is Cody Kunyk with 10 points on five goals and five assists.  Joe Sova has a team-leading seven assists.  Scott Greenham has seen all the minutes in front of the net so far this season.  He is 7-4-1 with a 1.99 goal-against average and a .922 save-percentage.
