Personal Protective Equipment

Personal Protective Equipment, commonly referred to as "PPE", is equipment worn to minimize exposure to a variety of hazards. Examples of PPE include such items as gloves, foot and eye protection, protective hearing devices (earplugs, muffs), hard hats, respirators and full body suits. 

The University PPE Policy applies to all employees of the University including faculty, staff, students, seasonal, temporary, part-time employees and casual labor. It also applies to all students currently enrolled in courses or performing assignments where PPE is required.

Ladders

NMU Personnel who use ladders with working heights of 6 feet or more will be trained in the care and use of ladders through the Safety Department online training course. Please follow the instructions in the Training Tab and complete your Ladder Safety Training.

Various height ladders are on site at NMU for you to use.

All employees should complete this ladder safety training before using a ladder
