Facility Hours - NMU Rec Sports

When NMU is closed due to inclement weather:

As the Rec Sports Department re-aligns with the new University inclement weather policy posted on 2/22/23; in the event that NMU is closed due to inclement weather the PEIF Building, including the Rec Center will be closed.

The Wildcat Fit Zone will be closed.

The Superior Dome will be closed.

The Berry Events Center will be closed. Ice rentals will be as scheduled.

Session 2: Winter 2024 PEIF Pool Hours (March 11-April 26) 

Pool Closures

The PEIF Pool will be closed on the following dates for swim and dive meets:
April 27

Repair Closure: April 28-June 2, 2024

Tentative pool hours from June 3 - August 23, 2024
Monday - Friday 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Winter 2024 Sauna Hours: 

Monday-Friday, Noon - 8 p.m.

Saturday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Sunday, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

**Equipment Rentals can ONLY be checked out during hours listed below.
***Parents bringing their kids to kids climb need to have a membership or buy a day pass to be in the rec facility. Even if they are just watching their kid climb. Individuals wishing to utilize the facility on their own must be at least 14 years of age. Youth members age 12-14 that are a part of a family membership or have an individual year long membership may be in the facility without a parent present. Individuals under age 12 must have a parent (guardian over age 18) present at all times with them in the facility, regardless of membership type.

Winter 2024 ORC Climbing Wall Hours (January 15- May 4)

• The climbing wall and ORC will be closed Saturday, 3/30/24 through Friday, 4/5/24 for maintanence and climbing comp route setting. The Superior Climbing Comp will be Saturday, 4/6/24. You can register here.

Belay Certification:

Beginning Fall, 2023 Belay Certifications will be available by appointment only. To register for belay certification, see the information below:

• Click here, and sign in 
• Belay Certifications will be offered weekly. There are 4 spots available per session. Participants must register 24 hours before the session (no walk-in's).
• $15 belay certification fee will be charged when registering for a spot in the certification session.
• Refunds will not be issued .
• Previously, belay certification participants had to attend two sessions-this has changed for Fall 2023.
• Participants will be certified if they demonstrate all appropriate skills and techniques, failure to perform may require the participant to register for the program again (payment will not be transferred to another session).
• If you already know how to belay you will still need to register for a lesson to get belay certified.

Drop in programs are for recreation members only. Participants are encouraged to contact the PEIF Rec Center by calling (906) 227-2110 to inquire about space availability and cancellations.

Winter Semester 2024: 

• Drop in Volleyball: 
  • Sundays Noon-2 p.m.
    • There will be no drop in volleyball on 3/31/24 as the PEIF will be closed for Easter Sunday.
• Drop in Basketball:
  • Wednesdays Noon-1 p.m. inside Rec Center
     

Drop in volleyball will be held in PEIF Gyms 150/154. 
 

Winter 2024 Golf Simulator Hours (January 15-March 1)

• Monday-Friday: 6 a.m. -8 a.m. & 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
• Monday-Thursday: 5 p.m. - 11 p.m.
• Friday: 5 p.m. -9 p.m.
• Saturday: 11 a.m. -4 p.m.
• Sunday: 11 a.m. -4 p.m. &  6 p.m.-9 p.m.
