Confidential Record Destruction

Records Management will assist in the destruction of confidential records that are stored in your department. NMU employs Marquette County Waste Management’s Document Destruction Service to ensure privacy protected destruction. Records that are not confidential can be disposed of in your normal manner.

When the retention period ends for confidential records sent to storage in the URC, we will contact your department for destruction approval.

To destroy confidential records stored in your department:

  1. Files need to be stored in cardboard “copy paper” or banker’s boxes, with no metal larger than paperclips, minimal plastic, and no media, such as floppies, CD’s, and DVD’s.
  2. Fill out the form below.
  3. To transfer the boxes, email Ryan Gleason and Eric Marcott of Central Services, including the amount of boxes and their exact location. Allow a few days for pickup.
