Northern Michigan University Police Department is made up of two units that conduct police and security operations for Northern Michigan University campus and UP Health System-Marquette and its properties.
The Police Department branch of the organization is charged with general public safety practices and crime prevention. The efforts in this area work to ensure that the Northern Michigan University campus is a safe and orderly place to live, learn, work and visit.
A major component of the Police Department duties is compliance with the federal Clery Act, which requires all colleges and universities receiving federal aid to make information about crimes on their campuses available to the general public. To do so, the NMU Police Department operates daily and monthly Web logs of its activities.
Law enforcement and security services are provided for UP Health System-Marquette and its properties to ensure a safe environment by enforcing laws, regulations, ordinance and policies and providing safeguards for the hospital.
We are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
