Marquette, Mich. — Northern Michigan University Olympic Training Site weightlifter Taylor Turner broke two American records this weekend at the American Open finals in Anaheim, Calif.

Turner of Saint Augustine, Fla., competed in the 58 kg weight class. She won bronze in the snatch by lifting 86 kg, bettering her own Junior American Record she set in April by 3 kg. Her 104 kg lift in the clean and jerk secured her a silver-medal in that category. Turner’s combined 190 kg total broke another American Junior Record and earned her a second-place overall finish in her weight category.

Finishing in fourth place in the 69 kg weight class was Kenny Wilkins of Round Rock, Texas. Wilkins lifted 120 kg in the snatch and 145 kg in the clean and jerk, totaling 265 kg for the competition.
