Marquette, Mich.—United States Olympic Education Center Greco-Roman wrestlers will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., for two competitions Jan. 26-31.

On Saturday, Jan. 26, USOEC wrestlers will compete in the Jack Pinto Cup, a senior-level event in which four U.S. Greco-Roman teams will face four international teams in dual meets.

The Jack Pinto Cup, formerly the Kiki Cup, is the annual kick-off event for the U.S. Greco-Roman program’s new calendar year. The event was recently re-named in memory of the six-year-old wrestler who was killed in the shooting last month at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

The Dave Schultz Memorial will be the second international event in which the team competes. The event takes place on Thursday, Jan. 31, and is held in honor of the late Dave Schultz, who was a world and Olympic champion for the United States in men's freestyle. Teams from 25-30 countries are expected to participate.

“These events are important to our program,” said USOEC coach Rob Hermann. “Getting international experience without traveling overseas is a great way to begin the New Year.”
