Head Greco-Roman Wrestling Coach
At NMU since 2016
Andy Bisek, of Chaska, Minn., is the fifth head coach since the program was established in 1999. The 2016 Olympian’s successes on the mat include earning bronze medals at the 2014 and 2015 World Championships. He also won gold at the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2012 and 2014 Pan American Championships. Other career highlights include being a four-time World Team member and two-time U.S. Open champion.
Bisek has been at NMU since 2016 as an assistant and associate head coach. He previously trained at NMU en route to earning a bachelor’s degree in Physical Geography in 2010. He later moved on to the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. after graduation.
Coaching wise, Bisek has led Team Minnesota at Fargo Nationals and has been an assistant at the Betterman Elite Wrestling Club in Colorado. He has also coached USA Wrestling clinics across the country, including clinics for coaches.
Bisek was named USA Wrestling Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year in 2014 and 2015. He also serves on USA Wrestling’s Junior Olympic Wrestling Committee.
Coach Bisek and his wife Ashley have three children, Jim, Molly and Wade.
